    Unemployment appeal and arbitration
I was terminated from my job and denied unemployment. As I a member of a union, I have been provided with a lawyer and the matter is awaiting arbitration. The date for the arbitration has not been set yet, however, the unemployment appeal hearing is scheduled for next week. My lawyer will be attending the unemployment hearing on my behalf along with me. How can there be a determination regarding the receipt of my unemployment benefits prior to the results of the arbitration, especially given that the reason for the denial of the benefits and the arbitration are the same? Will the decision of the unemployment hearing have an impact of the arbitration? I am really in need of the unemployment funds so postponing the hearing is not really an option.

Please let me know if you have any knowledge on this matter or personal experience of a similar nature.

Because the two decisions are made by two different tribunals.

Probably, but your lawyer should probably object to the decision being introduced in evidence as being immaterial.

    Why not ask you lawyer?
