    Audio speakers not working
I have a dell dimension and I just got my computer fixed. And my speakers are not working. Everything is set up right and everything is plugged in correct. No sound is coming from the speakers or the headphones. So I went to the control panel and it wouldn't let me change anything for the sound. I've tried everything I can think of... im confused.

I know this sounds too simplistic but are you Sure that you've got the right connection on the sound card to the speakers? The jacks aren't marked that well and I've seen it happen before. Also, if for some reason the sound card was removed while the computer was being repaired, it's possible that it wasn't 'seated' properly into the card slot. I'm sure you'll be getting several more answers soon - and if Scott Gem sees this, he gives many excellent answers to computer issues.
BTW, I like your sign-in name!

Hi again... OK, speakers themselves don't have drivers. Your sound card certainly does and that's Easily fixed. Do you know the make & model of the sound card? That's the first step, along with doing the following:

Find the My Computer icon on your desktop screen … Right click on this icon … then from the little drop-down menu, left click on Properties … this will open a System Properties screen … click on the Device Manager tab. As you look down the list of items, watch for any 'exclamation' marks or warning signs of a Device / Driver Error.

Keep in mind that I'm using Windows 98SE and you've probably got Win XP so things could be a little different (ok, maybe a Lot different! Lol).
Good luck and let me know ….
    David
