Connecting new laptop to existing wireless router
Currently have PC which operates via Belkin Wireless Router with no problems.
Have just purchased a wireless laptop but I am having problems connecting to Internet.Laptop shows wireless signal strong but only limited connectivity.
I really don't know what I should have done in order to ensure proper wireless connection to laptop, which is HP 550.
Can anyone advise me of the correct process please ?

Is your Belken Router set up with Security (WEP, WPA, WPA2?).

If the wireless screen on your laptop says that the signal is strong, then the limited connectivity must be because it can't connect because of encryption problems.

I recommend using WPA2 - PSK (pre-shared key), if your laptop can handle it (I believe that Windows Vista can, Windows XP cannot). Otherwise, use WPA-PSK.

You have to set this up inside the Belken router. You can type the pre-shared key in there. Usually, when you try to connect, Windows will ask you for the key. You must type it in *exactly* the same (upper and lower case included) as you did in the router.
