Hi,

I have been using Nero Vision Express to burn all my DVD’s. I find that when I play the DVD back it is slightly jerky. The original files that I am burning from are perfectly smooth so why does this happen when I put them on to DVD?

Is it something to do with the encoding stage?

This sounds like a possibly a codec problem.
When you are playing the original, media player automatically downloads the most recent codec for file.
I would ensure that you have an up to date Codec pack.
One that I find excellent is K-lite mega pack, download and install.
I find it solves most problems.

Try this... Try increasing the video hardware acceleration. There are two video hardware acceleration settings—one in the Player, and one in the Windows operating system. You must change both settings.

To change the setting in the Player, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Performance tab. Move the Video acceleration slider to Full.

To change the setting in Windows, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Display, click the Settings tab, click Advanced, and then click the Troubleshoot tab. Move the Hardware acceleration slider to Full.

I don't know if this will definitely solve the "jerky" issue, but it's worth a shot.

I personally also think it could be a problem with the encoding process. Take a look at this guide. Try using the settings suggested in this and see if you get better results.
