    Merchandising is what you sell.

    Manufacturing is what you actually manufacture/make.

    Merchandising Operations have a Cost of Merchandise Sold Expense account.

    Manufacturers Expenses are the resources used to manufacture the goods.

    It is still Revenues minus Expenses
