Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant (TA). This class of drug is not tested for on standard drug screens. Some of the extended 10+ panel tests, but not all, can detect the tricyclics.

TAs are eliminated slowly, can remain in your system for 10-14 days.

There are some reports of Amitryptyline cross-reacting with opiate panel, false positive, for up to 3 days after use. I have personally never encountered that, and confirmatory tests would negate the result.

I hate Amitryptyline. It puts one in a stupor/drug state and is uncomfortable to say the least. Also, it stays in the system too long. Going to sleep through the night does not remove the stupefying results. Hate it!! It was given to me for pain. I will take the chronic pain. However. Celebrex saves the day!!
