    The phone may be cordless but the base connects to a hard wire coonection somewhere. Check the wire of the plug. Read this How to Diagnose Land line Phone Problems - wikiHow

    I would look for black or green corroded pins on all phone jacks, if you find 1, replace the jack and cord.
