Hi, I have recently started a new small cleaning business and I need to find out how to get it bonded and what exactly being bonded is. I am new at all of this stuff and I need a little help so if you could please help with the following questions:
1) what is being a bonded small business exactly?
2) how do I get a small business bonded?

A bond protects your customer from you stealing from him. You can buy one from your insurance agent or a bonding company. You can find them in the yellow pages...

However, unless your customer DEMANDS that you HAVE a bond, I don't think you need one. Most services like yours don't have them, and I don't think it'll help you get customers.

I agree with Ex, in some bidding processes bonding is required and applies to your performance of the job/contract. If you do not perform per the specifications and they are holding your performance bond you will lose the contract and be required to deliver the bond to them. It is usually stated in the project bid package if a performance bond is required, if not, then not necessary, only liability insurance.
