    Furnace not blowing.
Please HELP!! I am a single mother of 2 and I have a problem. My thermostate is set at 72 degrees. The house temp is at 71 and the sound of the burner can be heard as if the furnace will kick out hot air any minute. Yet, the fan does not come on and start blowing air through the vents. What could be wrong, so that I may be able to correct this myself?

    Sincerely,

If you have the manual for your furnace, that would be great. There is a reset switch that you could try if the fan isn't blowing and if that doesn't work I would suggest calling a technician.

Don't panic, just take a look around your furnace, this switch should be marked.

Likely the blower relay is bad. Not too hard to fix except for paying $300 for the stupid whole board. You may be able to get heat for now by turning the fan to ON. That circuit uses a different relay and motor windings.

Anybody that can take a careful look at the old one and maybe make a few notes, can change a control board. The hardest part is risking it not being the board.

Thanks for the comments both of you. I have had a call into my serviceman over 5hrs now and still no call back. Hopefully, it will not be too expensive. $300.00 I just do not have, so I will cross my fingers and wait for them to call.

I think some other brands may be cheaper than my Bryant.

There is a temp. sensor underneath the fan, which monitors the temp. should be round shaped on the backside facing out. Sometimes they get stuck on the off position. Take it off, should be two wires going to it. Heat it with a lighter. It should make a popping out noise. Then blow on it to see if it pops back in. if not, that's likely your problem. $10 part. Service will cost $200 and up.
