Installing double pole wall t-stat baseboard heater
I have a 220 baseboard heater, and it is on dedicated circuit. Heater works okay as I have run wires straight through and turned on circuit breaker and heater works. This is a Marley baseboard heater and wall double pole thermostat. Instructions with thermostat leave a lot to be desired. Actual wiring from heater to circuit breaker has black and white wire. Thermostat has black and red. Assuming black wires match, and red and white match. For the black and white wires coming from heater, what wire(s) do they connect to on the t-stat, and for the wires going to the circuit breaker, what wires do they connect to on the t-stat? I keep popping the cb.
    Thank you.

Just connect the 2 white wires with a wire nut and switch the black wire with one side of the stat.

You need to note on the stat which two wires are LINE and which two wires are LOAD. The two black may be LINE, the two feed wires, black and white will connect to the STAT BLACKS, the two wires going tio the heater will then connect to the STAT REDS.

A double pole theormostat is a two switches, one for each hot lead, feed the stat on one set of wires, LINE, and continue onto the heater with the LOAD.

One switch of a double pole stat closes immediately when turned ON, the other switch closes on temperature fall, turning on the heat when the temperature at the stat is calling for heat.

By connecting the feed to both blacks at the stat is shorting out the circuit.
