Hello,

I have a relatively new (2.5 years old) Bryant Furnace that blows air but won't ignite for heat. It's flashing the code 13 error which says to reset the limit or flame roll out switch manually or replace the fuse link

I've replaced the filter and waited the 3 hours, no luck.

Is this something a DIY can work on or something a technician would need to service. Any advice / guidance would be appreciated.

Did you do what it said? If not you can wait forever and I do not believe it will work. You might be better off calling for service since most people do not know exactly what to check.

Thnaks for the reply HVAC1000. Yes, I did reset the two rollout switches. Nothing clicked when I pressed the button on each of them. Additionally, nothing was fixed. I still have error 33 that turns into error 13. My fan blows constantly but there is no flame nor ignition. I cleaned of the flame sensor (it wasn't dirty) but that did nothing. I took out the ignitor and it looked like new as well. I've read probably 40 posts on error 33/13. Seems to be a very common error but nobody on the forums post a follow-up once it has been fixed. The filter is new, there are no obstructions in the venting, I don't have excessive wind, it's a relatively new furnace, what else can I check?? Do I need to get my volt meter to check for proper voltage between the circuits. I'm at a loss. Any help would be appreciated. It's 55 degrees in here!!

Did you check the little 3 amp automotive type fuse in your circuit board? Just a thought and doesn`t cost anything to check

If your roll-out switches are in fact opening up then your best course of action is to call in for service.

The main limit switch may be stuck open if it has been cycling for a while. It may reset if you take it out and tap the disc against the floor, but it should ultimately be replaced if it has been "tortured".

Is the furnace a downflow?

Check all limit controls with a meter to be sure they are working correctly. As KC13 said one of them could be open causing the problem.

Thanks so much for all of your advice. After tinkering with my furnace for several hours the past two night, it is FINALLY working.

Error code 13 and error code 33 are no longer showing and the burners are lit up like a fine tuned jet engine.

KC13 - I think your post was the ticket. I removed the limit switch, gave a few gentle taps with the screwdriver, plugged it back in, and it fired right up. I think I'll invest in a new switch and see what happens. If it trips again, I'll have a service tech come in and find out what is causing the problem.

Good deal. Clogged/neglected air filters are the most common cause, but a checkout by a pro is a good idea.

Found this old post and gave the same thing a try after my Bryant was cycling 3-3, 3-1 for a couple of days.

I removed the upper limit switch in the middle back wall of the furnace, gave it a couple of light wacks with a wrench, and put it back in.

I powered it back up, and sure enough I got a 1-2, indicating 90 second blower warmup, then the gas kicked on.
