Changing a suface ignitor in Carrier 58MVP (or MVB) furnace
I have a 14 Year Old Carrier 58MVP Infinity Furnace. I know the hot surface ignitor is defective. It is behind the inducer motor. Is this something a novice like me can change. I already bought the part ($27.00) and want to do it myself because the contractor wanted $220 for the fix which seemed exorbitant for a $27 part. However, maybe it is not out of line. Any help on how to do this (or if I should uattempt this) would be greatly helpful. I have changed surface ignitors in larger furnaces that were readily accessible, but this seems to require the removal of the inducer fan. Is this correct? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Not being there to look at furnace its hard to say,, but for sure you will have to remove whatever is necessary to get to igniter,, beware and be careful of handleing the igniter with your bare hands, touching /the salt and oils on your skin will shorten the life of the new igniter + they are very fragile and easy to break

Sometime paying the big prices for someone else that has experance turns out to be a bargan
