    Query regarding Chiller
    Dear Sir,

We have LG Steam driven Absorption Chiller of 500 Ton with following specs

    1) Chilled water flow 302 m3/hr
    2) Chilled water Temp 7 to 12 C

In these specs, rated or max flow requirement gainst 500 Ton is mentioned. Please tell me

    1) What is the minimum flow requirement of chilled water through evaporator to avoid freezing ?
    2) Max load of my chiller goes to 80 % of max capacity. Can I reduce the chilled water flow through evaporator in proportion to load, to save my pump energy? If yes then how much?

    Waiting for your urgent reply,

    Best Regards,
    Abdullah

Sorry Abdullah but you are on the wrong place to ask that question. Mostly residential HVAC here.

You should check the spec or the manufacture for min flow with respect to temp... I would said about 650 gal per min... your CHW should have at least 2 safety, frezstat and some type of flow sensor... even with all the safety the machine may freeze up if the operator is changing the load and don't give the machine enough time to respond
YOu could vary the flow , check the SPEC again, or change the CHWS set point to vary your load. The chiller may design to run as low as 40%, SPEC
