    Bad Propane
I have a central propane unit in my house. It is 13 years old. It was mfg. by Consolated. They are no longer in business. The first tech said it needed to be cleaned due to excessive soot. He said the probable cause was bad propane. My propane supplier said this could not be possibe. He checked the pressure and said everything was OK. He said his propane could not be contaminated. He said the first tech did not know what he was talking about. The tech he recommended came out and said the ceramic orifice was bad. He supposely replace the orifice with a new one and cleaned the soot from the unit. 25 days later the unit will not light and I see visible soot at the orifice and under the burner. Any answers would be appreciated. I think I have been scammed. I am out $400. Neither tech has returned phone calls. Do you think I have been scammed . Is it possible to get bad propane? Thanks.

Ceramic orifice?? Soot in LP furnaces can be caused by a plugged (brass) orifice. Low LP pressure, poor venting, or insufficient fresh air for combustion. Once the furnace starts to soot up this problem is compounded fast. I hosestly would have put in a new furnace with warranties, than to have put 400 into a Consolidated Product.
