Dying bleached blonde hair dark - but what to do with the roots?
    Hello

I've naturally got light brown hair and have had it professionally dyed blonde for a year. I now want to change the colour to a chesnut brown at home. My problem is that I have quite a lot of root regrowth so when I use a home kit do I colour the roots first and then the rest, or the bleached hair then the roots? Or all together? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks

    P x

Start at the roots and make sure the brown your getting has some red pigment in it otherwise your hair color will look flat... due to it being blonde.

You don't need to bleach your hair to go darker. When you bleached your hair it took all the pigments out, including the red tones. So if you apply a darker hair color on bleached blonde hair, it can turn your hair green or an unpleasant color. In order to go from blonde to a decent brown color, you will need to do a two-step coloring process. You must use a reddish color filler on the bleached portions of your hair first and then apply your desired color. To avoid a hair disaster, I recommend that you get it professionally done.
