    Hair lighter on top
Hi I have a question ever time I color my hair it comes out lighter on the top and really dark on the rest of the hair, even when I follow the directions to leave the color on the bottom for only three minutes. Maybe it's the new hair growth of gray, I don't know. I used all kinds of hair coloring products and the same thing happens. I would like to have a all over even hair color. I would love my hair to be a medium reddish brown but it never comes out right. Its
Too light on the top and too dark on the bottom almost black. I don't want to go to a hairdresser for this because I really can't afford it also heard people had bad results there also. Can anyone let me know what a good hair coloring product which could do the trick I love a tint of red to my hair. Like a medium reddish brown It is very frustrating. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

    Perito

I think that the reason for this is probably because the hair on top is lighter or grayer than the hair on the bottom. I don't think that you're going to find one coloring product that will work any better than any other coloring products.

A couple of ideas come to mind. You could try applying the color first to where it gets darker, wait for about half the time you normaly wait and apply it to the top. That might even up the colors.

A second thing that comes to mind is to purchase developer and color separately. Sally Beauty, for example, will sell the colors and the developer separately. Use 30-volume developer on the darker hairs and 20-volume developer on the top where it comes out lighter.

    Good luck,
