A lot depends on where you live - in my area several Churches have joined together to help people. They usually do not do cosmetic repairs but they do make a house wheelchair accessible.

    You have to ask around.

Check with your local social services ,they should be able to give you information about what is avaiable in your area, where I live we have what is called "grace network" which helps people on a lot of things and these people are referred from the social service

I work with handicap every day, and the answer is no, there is not one place that will help. In fact in many areas there is no help.

    Places to try

    Local American Legion or VFW
    Local religious groups
Talk to local contractors if they may help

If you have a local Community Action agency in your area they may be able to help you. Contact your local county administration to see if such an agency is in your area.
