My mom is disabled and has been for the last 4 years.She worked as a nurse for 21 years but because of her disability she cannot work. She has multiple reasons as to why she cannot work. I was getting a check with her check but now that I am graduating from high school I am no longer eligible for that money.I need to know if there is anything out there that would help ease her mind. Medicare pays 80% of her medical bills and she has to see at least 4 different doctors every month not adding surgeons or other specialists. Please help us with good news that will ease our minds as to how I can go to college.

The lower the income of your parent the more grants you are eligible for. The more you volunteer the more. I suggest you contact the recruiters of colleges. I just went to a recruiting for my daughter's college and was amazed at the amount grants for volunteering, evening working while in school!

There are also programs that will help you repay loans depending on the field you go into (especially medical) if you work in underserved areas.

As for health care in most states her Disability would put her over the income for medicaid but she might have a "deductible" if the college assesses her a deductible. I recommend she look for a federally qualified health center to help with her care as they work with her medicaid.

As for your medical care at school you will be eligible for medicaid as low income and just move it to the county. But seriously contact admissions at the schools start ASAP they can relieve your mom's mind more than I ever could.
