I have a simple question that I most likely already know the answer to, but I'd like to verify it anyway.

I am moving an electric dryer from the basement to a newly finished laundry room on the first floor. I need to extend the 10-3 line from the current location to the new location, which is a total of 15 feet away.

Is it OK to simply add 15 to the existing 10-3, using wire nuts and a junction box, or do I necessarily need to run new 10-3 all the way from the breaker panel?

I don't see a problem with simply extending that line, but I just want to make sure it's doable.

You can have the junction, just ground the box.

It may actually be easier to just run all new.

The total run is well over 50 feet. It doesn't make sense to run all new wire if it isn't absolutely necessary. The original run is only a 3 or 4 years old.

Then I totally agree.
Make sure your splices are sound and everything is grounded properly.
