Is it too late to potty train my shih tzu?
I have paper trained my shihtzu puppy , but the thing is now he smells so bad.. he smells like pee.. I bath him once a week and he only smells good for 3 days. Now Im going to try to potty train him outside so he won't make the room or himself smells like pee. He's 5 months old now, is it too late to train him potty outside?

    Hi dhenia

Your little guy shouldn't smell because he relieves himself on papers inside. The urine may be leaking through the papers and remaining or seaping into whatever is under the papers. So that would make the room smell but not your little guy.

You shouldn't bath him that often, you could dry out his skin. Just give him a good daily brush and you could wash is little face, but bathing shouldn't be that often. Your not hurting him, but like I said you don't want to dry his skin out.

Never too late too drain and 5 months is a good age. Make sure he has all of his shots so he can go outside. At 5 months he should, but just making sure.

Enjoy your little guy - the are just bundles of love.

The little bugger must be rolling in it. LOL Oh the days of Puppies.

You could get his own wash rag, fill the bathroom sink with water and puppy shampoo, dip the washrag in, and softly wash the little guys face.

Then get a dry towel and softly dry him.

Theeeen give him hugs and kisses.

You are doing very well and remember... puppy stage doesn't last too long, but I do know how hard it is :)

Undoing what was done before, after 12 weeks is always more difficult. I always advise against paper or pads. Much of what you need is in the sticky starting at https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/i...tml#post251809
