Dog peeing and pooping on rugs all the time
I am wondering if someone can help me out. We have a mini daschund that is three years old and just recently she has gotten to where she goes and pees and poops on rugs through out the house and it is very frustating when she does this. She has pads down but will not use them. If we take her outside in backyard we have to stay out there with her because of our neighbor complaining about her barking all the time. I am needing suggestions as to what is going on.

I have a little chihuahua that's 7 years old. She too did the same thing (as far as peeing on the rugs) when I got pregnant & when we moved. My suggestion is to show your dog some extra attention. I think that sometimes, when pets who in the past have not had a problem w/ peeing in the house - and all of sudden do, pets act out like children when they want more attention. So, give your pet lots of hugs, kisses & treats.

And I too, have my dog trained to pee pee pads. And I suggest putting her in the bathroom w/ a pee pee pad several times a day - and don't let her out until she has used it. I used to have a problem w/ my dog Daphne shredding up the pads. To fix this issue I put a box in the bathroom with a fluffy towel - so she'll have somewhere to lay. And you can also put double stick tape on the back of the pee pee pad so it won't slip. And when she uses it - give her a treat & praise her.

When she has an accident - scold her & put her in the bathroom w/ her pee pee pad.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for information. I will try what you suggest and see what happens.

Most such problems call for a visit to the vet. If the vet doesn't find anything, post back and I will make some suggestion about strict supervision and being top dog.

I am calling vet as she is due shots and everything this month anyway. If vet doesn't find anything I will post back. Thanks!

Well she has stopped... every now and then she does it. We figured it out... she wasn't getting enough attention and so that is why she did this. We have pee pee pads down inside but she was not using them just out of spite.
