    Hi, animayxx3Freak!

Is the dog your pet that you're asking about, please?

I have had a number of pets put down. The way that I have usually seen it done is that their given an injection that puts them down. Since their body and mind functions all stop, then they don't feel anything and they are at peace.

After the animal is put down, a person usually has a couple options as to what to do with the body. I have a friend who takes them out to be buried with many pets of others on a farm. For mine, I like to have them cremated. I keep the ashes in a memorial container and write about fond memories of that pet.

If money might be an issue as to what to do with the body, some veterinarians might be willing to freeze the body without cost until arrangements are decided upon as to what to do with the body.

Hopefully, others will also be along to answer your question.

    I wish you well! :)

Yes, my dog is being put down at this very moment.
I wasn't allowed to be there.
I had an instinct to ask this question because I knew something was wrong with my dog and I didn't think he was going to get better.
My parents think he must passed away for a couple of reasons 1) he was old and 2) my granddad his owner passed away 2 months ago (this reason because Tyson must have missed his owner)

I had a dog put down due to illness in her old age.

First they gave her a needle to make her fall asleep.

Then they euthanized her.. her skin began to turn gray (as well as her tongue). She took about 10 seconds to be fully dead.

I don't know all the exact termanologies... so exuse me for that... however, this is the experience that we had.

(P.S: the spell check on this site isn't working and I am a horrible speller... so exuse me for THAT as well... lol).

My dog was in deep physical stress (likely stroke) and put down last year by the emergency clinic...

The dog was first made to go into a deep sleep, and then his heart was stopped once he was no longer conscious and aware.

I can't tell you how this is done elsewhere or under other circumstances... I can tell you it was a humane way for my suffering friend to pass.
