Does everyone who wears full dentures use adhesive?
I just started wearing full dentures in Jan. 07 after an accident. To keep my dentures from slipping and sliding I need to use adhesive on both uppers and lowers. My mother who is 90 doesn't use any adhesive and doesn't have any trouble? I'm not sure what the Norm is. Thanks to you all for any pointers.

OK, not sure if you are going to receive an answer. I will share what I know. My friend was contemplating getting dentures. The dentist advised her to only get upper because they would be easier to deal with, if possible he wanted her to get a partial on the bottom. He said that the upper should stay in due to the suction but the lower would move around if not using adhesive. For along time she used adhesive on both top and bottom and now she says she only use's it on the bottom ones. So I guess in time you will learn to keep the top ones in but the bottom ones will always be a problem.

If you had teeth removed in January before the denture was inserted you probably need a reline now. The tissues will have shrunk somewhat since the extractions. Have you lost a considerable amout of weight since January? That can also affect how dentures fit and again a reline would be needed.
Most denture wearers don't need to use adhesive daily. It's a good habit to get in to if going out for dinner (you can be more confident of not having your dentures fall when eating or talking).
I'd suggest you go back to the dentist or denturinst who made your dentures to see if a reline is needed.

You need to go to your dentist and ask for a reline for bith upper and lower dentures. The reline can be done either in the dental office or the dentist may need to sent them to a dental lab that they use closely to reline the dentures for you. Or you can go to a drug store and purcahse a sea bond kit and do the reline yourself you can do this yourself the instructions are on the box I know what I'm talking about I'm a dental assistant for 15 years tell me how it went.

I have had both upper and lower dentures since about 1993, visited dentist only once since then for an oral cancer screening, perhaps should go more often for that, have had no relining done ever, dentures do not slip at all, never had any issues since 93, use adhesive on upper and lower each day.

    Hi Richard,

As a "NEW" (2 weeks) denture wearer, every day gets a bit better!

One issue I have that you may have an answer for is "How do you get the Adhesive off the Pallet and Gums?
I have tried scraping if off and using a soft brush, but, that seems to simply spread it around.

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you,

    Paul
