Nations urged to spend $45 trillion to battle carbon emissions - International Herald Tribune

According to the International Energy Agency it will take at least $45 trillion ;build 1,400 nuclear power plants worldwide ,and vastly expand wind power in order to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2050... the date the UN Scientists say that emissions needs to be halved to avoid an increase in world temperatures of between 3.6 and 4.2 degrees above pre-18th century levels.
[That's $45 TRILLION... as a comparison ,the entire US GDP is $13 Trillion . ] They want us all living in mud yurts living as hunter -gatherers (except don't hunt the endangered species) ,foregoing all the evils of industrialization. I wonder how the extremists will react to the call for nuclear power as a remedy ?

Global warming, right.

How about Universal Warming, are we humans responsible for that too?

It has been proven that all the other planets in our solar system, show the same temp increases, or decreases, as the earth does.

I guess in order to really solve this problem, we just need to learn to be able to turn down the sun's thermostat, or up when the temps slip in the other direction.

Just remove the nuclear program and we can weave more sweaters and blankets to stay warm; think how much money can be saved, along with the planet! And the Universe! That sounds like Real Change!

Tom, wasn't it all those hippies in their VW flower power vans that started this environmental movement - while sitting around a beach bonfire?

$45 trillion to stop global warming, huh? That'll be what, some $198 billion a year for the U.S. I already know how Greenpeace will react, End the nuclear age.

Since we have never had any loss of life due to a nuke plant failure, we probably should build more nuclear generation plants. Even though the idea that we can alter temperature of this planet is just nuts.

We don't really need them anyway, what with our investment in global warming, so we probably don't need a massive wool + cotton weaving operation right off, either.

Certain high dollar OPEC folks are pushing up the commodity markets to create this world "food shortage" when there are surpluses of corn. Farmers have grown above and beyond the amount needed for food supply.
The sun is acting up to create the climate anomilies we are seeing and the huge corporations are still polluting air, rivers and farm land in different countries.
The best thing they can come up with is to blame John Q. Public and then create another tax to take care of it. Shift the blame, swich-o-chang-o, the lie is quicker than the eye routine.
We do contribute a small bit to the problem. Nothing we can't take care of ourselves. Most of it is cyclic though.
So lets all just have one, maybe two children. Be responsible.
Lets recycle our trash and compost our organics and put them into our home gardens that produce better than half of our food.
Let's ride our bikes more and drive less.
That way, the big polluters can carry on.
