    I received a First Offender's Automatic Pardon.
Over twenty years ago I received a First Offender's Pardon after serving my time in Louisiana. Now I live in Florida and when I apply for a job do I have to answer the question... YES, I am a convicted Felon even though I've been given the First Offender's Pardon? The job I have now only asked if I had been convicted of a felon in the last seven years, but other applications just ask: Have you ever been convicted of a felon? I would love to apply for a job with another company and I want to be honest. I also don't want to bring it up if I legally don't have to.

I believe that you since it asks only in the past seven years you can answer no if that is the case; however, if it just asks if you ever have been convicted, you must state yes.. I know here in Utah, I would be right in my answer, it is a gray area. Good luck to you

    Hello almost:

If you've been pardoned, it's just like you've never been convicted.

In 1999 I was arrested for DV. Now, our son is almost out of high school and the years have been great. However, I am now ready to move on but I can not do what I want and that is join the Navy, or Army. Some say I need a pardon others say I need a expungment with that said I am at a lost. Iam 38 yrs old and in good shape. It has been a long road and I have been doing my best in after my arrest I went to collage and earned a AA and a RN degree. I don't have the income to afford someone to take my case, so if someone would help or point me in the right direction this would be most help thing in my life.

Send a request to the FBI , you need your finger prints and you can see what's on your record. Google it I can't recall the link off the top of my head but its not hard to find

Unfortunaly, the first offender pardon issued by Lousiana is a little deceptive. Here's the deal, yes, it does restore all of your rights afforded to you pre-conviction, (except the right to carry a firearem in certain situations), BUT... it does not have the same power as a full pardon from the govenor. Your felony conviction is still on file with the FBI and it can be used against you if you are ever arrested for another felony. In otherwords, it's sort of like a one time pass that can be revoked if you mess up again. I received one back in 1997 and thought I was in the clear until I had to get my prints ran for a job. If it goes through the FBI... well, you know. Sorry. If it ever comes up, explain that you received the FOP, most people don't know the difference.
