I'd like to know a simple way to get a rope over high branches, say 60-80 feet high.
Any ideas ?

There really isn't a simple way unless you are willing to climb up into the tree. All the cheap and inexpensive tricks are a crapshoot. I once tried to use a bow and arrow tying the rope around the arrow shaft! Yeah, I can be pretty dumb sometimes.
The best way to do it is to hire someone with a bucket (machine) that extends that high. It is not cheap, but it will get the job done. Call a local tree specialist/surgeon. They have the equipment necessary to get up that high.
Oh and here I was thinking an arrow with a really long light string that you could later tie the rope to..? LOL
We have several large precarious dead dangling branches from the hurricanes that I have been pondering over for some time. Trouble is, a rope needs to snag one end of it or something. Also our property is so heavily wooded where they are, its going to be a nightmare getting a cherry picker (or whatever they are called) in here too. Fencing would have to come down too. So for now, they be dangling...
Val, yes, the light string idea does sound like it would work but unless you are a very good archer, it can take a long time and frustrate the heck out you. Trust me! :)
Yes, some people call it a cherry picker, some a bucket, it is the same machine. I don't worry about the trees that have limbs dangling in the woods. They will eventually fall off. For me, I just steer clear of those.
The problem with rope in your situation is that you could seriously get hurt if you manage to pull down a large branch. There is no predicting where it will fall. Tree surgeons are in and out of there and know precisely what they are doing. And, if something unexpected does happen, they are insured.
So, I am assuming that your location of Paradise is in some area of Florida. I am so sorry to hear that you were a victim of the hurricanes down there. I can imagine how difficult that must be, and yet you always have a sunny outlook on things. Bravo! :)
Just don't walk around those dangling branches. I like coming back here to read your postings and I am looking forward to reading your autobiography some day!
By using a throw bag and line. And if that doesn't get u high enough u could use in addition an item called a big shot catapult. These can all be purchased from Honey BrothersQuote:
