How can I open a mpp file? Do I need Microsoft project? Is there anyway to open the file if I don't have this Microsoft project?

    Mpp file
    Hi,
    Check out this site.
You will need software to open these types of files.

    Best of luck,

PS; You can also do a Google search for more software. Type in "mpp", without quotes, then click on Go.

There are a few options for viewing MS Project (mpp) files without needing to buy MS Project itself. Namely ProjectViewerCentral, Seavus, Steelray and KSol offer project viewers for around $30-50. Then there's also LiveProject (which I've started using lately) that's free.

They pick Steelray because it is Steelray's website! Reviews are not objective at all!

As recommended above, I would also recommend Seavus Project Viewer.

See this article on How to open and view .mpp file without MS Project installed.

    http://www.wareprise.com/2009/08/20/how-to-open-and-view-mpp-file-without-ms-project-installed/

It shows you a list of desktop and online based tools that you can use to open .mpp file without MS Project install on your machine.

Just note that most allow you to just read the content of the mpp file without being able to edit and save.
