    Ohio Child Abandonment
Need help quick! My half-brother and his wife moved in with me in early December 2007 with their 3 month old twins and their 2 year old. I had to kick them out three weeks later due to my brother drinking. When I kicked them out they picked the 2 year old up but not the twins! On Dec 26th I told them they needed to come get the babies as I am facing back surgery. She and my brother had split up and neither one of them would take them and agreed to sign over temporary custody to a friend of my sister's. The papers were notarized on December 28th. They have had them since then and yesterday the birth mom filed a missing person's report and kidnapping charge! Children's services is ready to come take them back to the birth mom who has a history of drug use & domestic violence...
The adoptive mom wants me to file a child abandonment report and I'm not sure how to do it or if that's the best way to handle the situation. Please help!!

There are notarized papers dated December 28th... bring those papers to the police department and social services to show mom signed the kids custody over to someone else. If mom filed missing person's / kidnapping, with that notorized statement she signed, that will show she filed false charges... that is illegal. But it surprises me that the police would take a report on kidnapping/missing person's for infants missing for 3 months! That would raise all kinds of questions to ANY sane persons mind! Did she just notice they weren't around? Sounds fishy - at best!

It would be hard, if not impossible, for you to file child abandonment allegations against her now - 3 months later, but contacting a lawyer may be a good idea (those that have the children) You will be part of the defense...

Where's your 1/2 brother? What does he stand on this issue?
