How do I change the harmonic balancer in a 1993 buick 3.8
I would assume you remove everything in front of it that's in the way, remove the belt, and take the bolts out. Their should be some kind of keyway that correctly lines up the balancer, that may or may not come with the new pulley. I am not positive on that particular motor, but you may need to jack up/lower the motor to get enough room to remove the balancer.
You may also need a special tool to pull the harmonic balancer off; GM liked doing that on quite a few vehicles.
You need a harmonic balance puller for that particular engine. Call around to your auto parts stores, some of them will rent you the tool for a reasonable price or check and see if you have an Avery Rents in your vicinity. Although Avery normally rents higher priced items I have seen some of the branches have some automotive hand tools available for rent.
