what is the value of a 2000 honda civic with a blown head gasket?
What's the approximate trade in/resale value of a 2000 Honda Civic Lx with a blown head gasket?
It's an automatic, 4 door sedan with approximately 176000 miles.

The person I'd be buying it from said it's quoted in Fair condition, and was priced around $2,000 according to kelly blue book.

I have a mechanic in my family that can fix it, and would only charge for the parts, not labor.
Is it worth it? Or is my gut feeling true?
I honestly think it's a rip off.. but I'd like advice from

It likely overheated, damaging the valves, warping the head, and blowing the head gasket. Besides this, the automatic transmission, after 176,000 miles, may have problems. Flip a coin.

Probably about $300.00 at a scrap yard because it sounds like the motor is toast. But if you contact a junk yard you could probably find a replacement motor for around $700.00 and then it should be worth around $2k in fair condition
