94 Honda Accord won't start in rain.
We have a 94 Honda Accord LX that won't start in the rain. The problem first started about a month ago when my daughter was at the beach on some wet and foggy days. In the morning the car won't start, it cranks fine just won't start. You can smell gas so we assumed it was flooded. There was a service station close by and they brought it in and changed the plugs, wires, and it has worked since, even on rainy days. Yesterday it rained all night and low and behold it would not start. I let it sit and still no. I put the hair dryer under the hood for a half hour pointed at the fuel rails I distributer and presto, it started. Oh yes, the rain had stopped.

Any ideas on a fix appreciated.

    Thanks,

. Carefully coat spark plug wires and boots with silicone spray.

. Replace distributor cap and rotor. Apply dielectric grease to spark plug connectors. Lightly wipe porcelein on spark plugs with dielectric grease.

Well, txgreasmonkey has some advice that makes sense. I went out and purchased the distributor cap and rotor and installed them as noted. We are expecting showers off and on the next few days up here in New England so I will report back on the outcome.

I am confident though. A big reason; when I removed the old cap there was no o-ring gasket, not at all, like it was never installed with one. There is a groove for one and the new one came with one so how moisture proof could it be.

Thanks for the advice and I will post back in a week or so to confirm it worked.

You likely solved the problem by finding the missing 0-ring.
