I was served with papers CC debt
I came home to my apt building and low and behold there was a paper on the glass door saying I was being sued by Capital one. The bottom line is I owe money to other credit cards I must owe all together at lease 25,000. All I owe Capital one 1,356 dollars and they are sueing me for this ? It says I have 20 days to go to court and speak to a court clerk I have never been to court for anything but Jury duty so I am not sure what to do.

I wish someone could tell me what to in steps so I am prepared and know what I am dealing with and what questions to ask. Should I call up the other credit card companys to make a payment plan. I have a job but my rent and apt bills suck up most of my pay I can't really pay much but I will sacrifice if I have to or should I just file for bankruptcy please someone help me I am desperate at the top of the note it says my wages can be garnished as well eeeek:eek: . I feel so embarrassed that this note was left outside my door luckily no one really know's my name although my apt number was on it lol.

If someone anyone could help me out I would appreciate it sooooo much.

Look through the threads in this forum. The steps have been outlined in several threads.

You would probably be best off talking to a bankruptcy atty. If the debt is valid, they will, likely, get a judgement against you. You might be able to fight it based on them not having the proper documentation. But that us just delaying the inevitable.

The papers actually have capital one bank the one who is sueing me, I guess I should go to the court and speak to a court clerk since I have no money to hire a lawyer myself:(

The paper I received looks like a court document but it's from the Debt collector because I called the number on the paper which is a law office. When you call it says that they are by law requierd to mention that they are a Debt collection agency. Now the paper says I have to show up in 20 if the paper was given to me. But the paper was taped to the outside door of my building apartment. Im just so nervous because I don't want to go to court but I don't want to get into deeper trouble and it's only 1,143 but including their fees it went up to 1400. I am trying to call up this office to see if I can make a payment plan with them instead of having to show up to court is this possible
