Are you sure you have the proper fuse in the electrical panel? It might be worth checking.
Lol, well a few things, how do you know it's the dryer making your fuse box hot? It could be just a coincidence that it started getting hot on the same time you got the dryer. Or maybe its not the actual dryer but just the whole load.

Most electrical problems are caused by heat and loose connections. Best to have the fuse panel thoroughly checked for loose connections, including the fuse holders. If you still have fuses, you are prone to theses types of failures.
The pull out fuses for ranges and dryers are known to burn at the contact points, after so many years the metal has dissappeared. Damaging heat is created at these bad or loose connections, no maybe, every time. Have the panel checked to save a ton of grief.
Consider upgrading to circuit breakers ASAP, for many obvious reasons, safety esp.. Also, insurance companies are known to force homeowners to upgrades or lose the coverage, I am a former insurance inspector, so take my word for it. They play hardball because they have the statistics on their side.
