    Film on glasses
What causes a white film on glasses after the dishwasher? How can I remove it?:

    Hi Romanoff,
It's hard to say exactly, but the most likely cause could be if you are using powdered dish soap. If you are, switching to a liquid would probably solve this. Two other possible causes are a high mineral content in the water (calcium, lime), or depending on the glasses, they maybe getting etched (finely nicked or scratched).
Not sure what is best for accumulated soap, but for minerals, vinegar or a commercial product like CLR should work well. There is nothing that can be done if they are etched.

THOMAS1970 is correct. Soak the glass in vinegar and rince and let dry. If they are still cloudy then they are etched.
If they are etched then cut down on the soap that you are using. Soaps are harsher now due to the phosphate laws. Use a Rince Aid and hopefully it won't ruin any more glasses.
