Hi all, I am trying to conceive with my first baby and I am 30 yrs old. My periods are regular by 30 days and lmp was 29 sep. This month during my ovulation period me and my husband had intercourse on 11, 13, 14 and 16. On 16 I experienced severe headache. On 17, yesterday I had severe abdomen cramping and light spotting and white mucous discharge. The discharge was throughout the day till this morning. Also I am suffering from constipation since yesterday and mild headache on and off.Also I have cramps in my legs. And I feel extremely thirsty and started frequent urination too. Are all these complaints normal for ladies trying for a baby?I have heard implantation bleeding happens only after 7 -10 days. What is the spotting I got yesterday. Moreover I have read that symptoms of pregnancy occur at least 2 weeks from ovulation. How come I have all these within couple of days? I am anxious. Please guide.

It is too early for you to be experiencing any pregnancy symptoms. You see it takes approximately 3 or 4 days for the sperm to reach the egg up in the fallopian tube, then another 3 - 4 days for the fertilized egg to travel back down to the uterus where it is implanted.

So, if you conceived on the 11th, the egg would not reach the uterus until the 17th at the earliest or the 19th at the latest.

Implantation bleeding has never really been scientifically proven.

How do you know this was your fertile period? I only ask because without the use of ovulation prediction kits and/or monitoring basal body temps and cervical mucus, its nearly impossible to predict just based on your LMP.

The discharge, cramping, and headaches you described signal ovulation to me. Granted, I can truly diagnose you over the Internet, but eggwhite or wet discharge is typically considered the most fertile. Honestly, some of your symptoms could signal ovulation, or a cold/flu. Its difficult to tell. That being said, its possible that you still managed to time intercourse correctly since it's a good idea to have sex at least a day or two before ovulation.

What you've heard is correct. Implantation commonly occurs 7 - 10 days post-ovulation and even at that point, a pregnancy test will not necessarily detect a pregnancy.

The symptoms you are currently experiencing are not likely related to pregnancy, but only time will tell.
