The Pill instructions tell me I don't need a back up method, why?
I started Azurette this past Thursday under the Day 1 routine. According to the instructions (if I start on Day 1), I don’t have to “use a back-up method of birth control, since I am starting the pill at the beginning of my period.” Does that mean I can have unprotected sex right now without getting pregnant? Also, other pills do this not just Azurette. It hasn’t been seven days since I started Azurette. Were the instructions written with the idea that most women don’t have sex while on their period, or can I really have sex now with nothing to worry about? Thanks!

The pill can take as long as a month to build up in your system. I would say it's better to be extra safe than pregnant. Using a condom for at least the first month, and for a month after missing a pill or taking any antibiotics or other medication that might interfere, would not be a bad idea.

No birth control pill is 100 percent effective, so as long as you are OK with the acceptable risk it is fine.

Even after on it for over 30 days they are not 100 percent

Even the web site on the drug says to use another form for at least 7 days
Azurette Oral Drug information on Uses, Side Effects, Interactions, and User Reviews on RxList

A lot of good info and warnings you need to read
