    Period normal?
So I finally got my FIRST period not too long ago. I'm already 17 and had just began having them. My first period was pretty light and lasted for only 3 days. Then, 15 days after the first one ended, my SECOND one came and this time was a bit heavier and lasted 4 days. I was just wondering if this is normal? Why is my cycle only 2 weeks long? I thought it was more like 4 weeks?

Once your cycles regulate, they likely will result in a period once a month. However, for some women, irregular cycles are their norm.

When you first start, cycles can be regular right away, but it is not unusual for cycles to be irregular for awhile... it's fairly common actually. You might have a few periods close together and then skip a month or two, for example.

If you become concerned, you can certainly mention it to your doctor, but again it is not unusual at this point.

So would it be possible that both times were my period only that they were 15 days apart?

Both could be periods, but you may not have ovulated before both, or possibly before either. Hormones can fluctuate for a variety of reasons; again commonly seen when first starting. There can be a few reasons for starting your periods later than the norm as well.
