    Long periods
I am 27 years old and ever since I was about 14 or 15 I've had an irregular period some times it can last up to a month. I've been to doctors for this a lot and I always get put on the pill.
I did have cysts on my ovaries when I was younger. I do not have them now. I just can't find a good doctor to tell me what this is.
I don't want to be on the pill any more what can I do?

Be very upfront with your Dr. Some times they need to be told what you are looking for!
Ask your Dr if you are in early stages of pcos. Also have you hormone level checked. Be sure to tell your Dr if you want to be put on the pill or not that should be up to you not them. Also wondering if maybe your weight fluctuates allot sometime that has in impact on your cycle. Stress is a big factor also. Good Luck!

Have you had any lab work done? Since you don't have cysts, does that mean you don't have a uterine fibroid either?

Is it possible that you have pcos? Any acne, weight gain, infertility? Usu testosterone and DHEA will be high. Triglycerides are high, HDL often low. Have you tried progesterone to help with your bleeding? If not, it could be helpful.

If you think it might be PCOS, there are a few websites I love for getting some help-- pcos.insulitelabs.com/, and PCOSupport™.

Good luck, it's certainly not fun bleeding so much! (not to mention tiring since you end up anemic)
