    Do I have a UTI?
Last night I noticed I had a frequent urge to urinate but, little came out. This morning my urine was sort of pinkish and the same thing was going on. Do I have a UTI? I am sexually active and a 16 year old female. My parents do not know that I am sexually active and I don't know how to confront them about this. When you see a doctor about this does he examine you and ask if you are sexually active?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.:)

Do you have a burning sensation when you urinate?

This very well could be a UTI. And you DO need to see a doctor about this.

Most likely the doctor will ask if you are sexually active to rule out an STD. The first step though would be a uninalysis where you just pee in a cup and they determine if there is bacteria there that would indicate a UTI. There is no other examination strictly for a UTI.

Let me say though, that since you are sexually active, it is imperative that you have a female exam, including a PAP Smear done once a year.

Sounds like a UTI, but you will need antibiotics to clear it completely. All you will have to do is pee in a cup.

    Make that doctor's appointment.

You can have a UTI and not necessarily be sexually active, so even if you tell your parents, it doesn't mean they are going to automatically assume you are having sex. Regardless, you really do need to go to the doctor, though!

No, you don't need to see a doctor yet. I know this is bad advice, but I get theses about twice a year, what I do is go to the healthfood store and buy 100% pure cranberry juice. No cocktail, no sugar added. 100% CRANBERRY!! If you buy a big bottle and drink the whole thing in a day it should go away. Give it a couple of days, drink a lot of water and if it doesn't go away after two or three days of drinking the juice then go to a doctor. This should work. I hate doctors. Drink water. If this is sexually related just make sure next time go to the bathroom after you have sex. I don't know how kinky you guys get but don't let him go from anal sex to vaginal sex or manual stimulation from your anus to vagina. Keep yourself clean!! Good luck

No, you do not have to be sexually active to get a UTI. So your parents don't have to know you are sexually active.

Well, Snap, I won't say your advice is bad, but it is not the best either. You see many bacteria that cause UTIs will go into a dormant state caused by the cranberry juice. This means that the bacteria still exists and under the right conditions it will become active again and begin to multiply. So for many bacterial UTIs, antibiotics are necessary.

You see, what the cranberry juice does (and you are correct in saying 100% Cranberry juice, preferably Ocean Spray), is makes the bladder walls slippery so that the bacteria cannot adhere to the bladder itself, thus, the bacteria is urinated out. However, to be completely bacteria free, one must need an antibiotic.

I will agree 100% with the rest of your advice though.

Fashion please go to the dr, if left untreated on not treated properly, this infection can enter the blood stream and cause you a lot of problems and make you even more ill.

J9 it kills me to see people playing around with their health. My son almost died when he was small, I have spent many 100's of hours in the er, icu, nephrology unit, etc... The things that I have heard and seen fire me up. I give my thanks to the nurses of this world because with out nurses fighting with me for my sons life he would be dead!
