    It Can't Be Just Vertigo
During the last four months, I've had several episodes that are interferring with my work. For about five minutes, I'll steadily grow hotter until I feel like I am radiating heat. Then I'll grow extremely dizzy, regardless of whether I am sitting or standing, and then constant vomitting for near twenty minutes afterwards. But about fifteen minutes after I have nothing left in my stomach, I feel even better than I did before getting warm.

I think it might have something to do with being anemic, which I didn't find out I was until two weeks ago. I had started a vegetarian diet about two or three weeks before the first episode, and I didn't know about the anemia then. I've stopped the diet now, but I still had an episode. I know it's not food problems, and I'm fairly certain my menstrual cycles aren't the cause of it because of the different timings of the episodes.

My doctor says that these episodes are just cases of vertigo, but I don't believe him. How would that explain the growing hot and the feeling fine later? Has anyone had this problem, or maybe know what it is?

Hi phillippm1... Yes it can be Vertigo... I have been a sufferer for many years and am currently home from work with this.

I also suffer from Anemia.. which can have similar symptoms, so I can see how they can be mixed up in diagnoses.

Anemia can be varified by a blood test, so you know for definite that's what it is, I'm assuming having paid a visit to your doctor this is what you have been told.

Vertigo is how you descibe only in some cases more severe.
The heat you talk of (sweats) is not always there, but is a symptom, as is dizzyness, sickness or feeling sick, total lack of co-ordination and a feeling of not being quite with it, also lack of concentration.

This can last minutes or days, also you can have a spell in one minute be OK for a few hours and then have another spell ,it can be very unpredictable.

Your Doctor will perscibe medication to help the imbalance in your ears, which is the cause of vertigo, usually... stemitil tablets or similar.

My husband has similar symptoms. The doctor called it Benign Positional Vertigo. Here's a web site about that:
