Do you wear earrings? Is the bump on your lobe in the area where you may wear earrings (if you do)? Is the bump hard or soft?

Do you wear glasses? This could cause this bump, and this area is very sensitive. Even incorrectly adjusted sunglasses can cause this...

Have you had mumps before? I had them last winter and that's how it started, it normally swells up and can be quite painful. If it is you should go to the doctors and get anti inflammatory painkillers.

It would help to have some more info about your health and past health history.

I'm not a medical professional and you should see your doctor about this. I had a lump on my ear in the earlobe, and my doctor told me it was a cyst. It went away on its own. However, my lump was not tender. It was a little soft and squishy and moved around in the earlobe. I have also had lymph nodes in my neck swell up because of illness. In that case, my doctor prescribed me an antibiotic, and they returned to normal size. I don't know what might be causing your lump, those were just my experiences with lumps! :)

You should see your doc. It could be something harmless, or it could be something serious, no way to tell for sure until you go. If you don't have medical insurance, see if there are any free health clinics in your area. You can find them online, in the phonebook, or call the local health department and ask them. The clinic may be free or there may be a charge on a sliding scale based on your income.

    Good luck!

Twice, I've had this bump to come up on the back of my ear lobe where I would wear my earrings. To make a long story short, I realized that I can't wear "fake" earrings. That was causing the bump... the bump finally got really big and popped and oozed out a lot of pus, which was really nasty. Since then, I've worn "real" earrings and have not had to problem since.

I had a bump behind my ear for a couple weeks(2cm). It came out of nowhere! I went to othe doctor and he said it could eather be a cyst or a lymph node. He prescribed antibiotics, and said I can eather wait to see if it gows down, or take the antibiotics and go back after the required time to see the progress. I don't like taking medication so I just waited it out and it went away fully on the third week. >>>hopefully this helps:)

Haha I heard a old story.. if you been crying a lot, you will get a bump on your ear..

But it could be from an earing. If it starts to hurt or gets serious, go see a doctor!

Ah yes, the bump on the ear deal. There's a chance it could be a cyst but it's probably a clogged skin pore. Sometimes earwax clogs pores and it swells and gets tender (I have a bump too and did some research). Just keep it clean and forget about it. It takes a long time to heal I'm guessing probably because of the size of the pores on the cartilage or how clogged it is. I hope I helped because when I found my bump on my ear I freaked out.
