    Update Install Failure
Last year I had my laptop scrubbed after virus attack. They installed XP home on a Compaq Presario 1500 with the Service Pack 2. I have gone wireless with the Microsoft MN-710 adapter and use a 10 digit WEP encription. I have no problem getting online or browsing the net, however when attempting to retrieve Updates for SP2 there is a problem with the install. The update web page is recommending 17 critical updates so I proceed with the download but when I click install only two of the 17 say "done" all the others say "failed" and are not successfully installed. I took my laptop to the 2WIRE Portal router and went hard wire thinking it was a problem with encryption. However, I still had the same problem and have not yet installed any of the updates! I tried turning off the Firewall and Pop-Up Blocker without success. The Desktop PC does not have any problems with update download/installation. I have DSL service and there is a filter/splitter at the wall jack to separate the phone from the High Speed internet service. NOt sure what to do next. So! What do you think? Where to next?

    Don't worry
It's the monthly patch time so a lot of people are trying to get to the update site, hence the fails.

If you know that you want ALL of the critical updates then just turn on the Automatice Update function in XP and let it download and install them for you.

    That's it?
Monthly Patch Time? You mean they are working on the web page or something like that? Thanks! I've been stressing over it because I don't want to go through another hard drive scrub! Five times was enough!
    Thanks Again for your Info!!
