    System Restore of HP M7680n
I am trying to restore my computer with factory recovery disks. I put the disks in, the system formated the hd. Then it installed the software. After about 2 hours, the drive bays opened and I removed the disk. I then rebooted the computer. I am now in a screen that says please wait, it has a bar that is moving back and forth. The problem is, before I rebooted the computer it had been 6 hours and it had not finished installing. I don't know what the problem is. The light on the computer is flashing. I am trying to install xp, the computer has 4 gb of ram. I hope that you can help me. Thanks in advance.

    Sounds like something has failed.
    Time to start over.

Try running the Recovery from the Recovery partition.

I am in the process of restoring my computer a 2nd time. It restored in about half the time that it took the 1st time. Can anybody tell me how long it should take to finish the install process after the disks are removed. Thanks.

My assistant factory restored her laptop last week. Took 3 hours start to finish. The website for the laptop indicated a range of 3-6 hours depending on how many bad sectors the hard drive had on it now since the system will mark all of those out during the reformatting step, THEN install all the software.

    FYI.

I just wanted to write and thank everybody that helped my with my computer restore problem. All is working like it is suppose to. The 2nd restore worked like a charm. I should have done that earlier. I don't know what the problem was with the first restore. There were a couple of bad sectors when it formated the hd. Don't know if that could have been the problem or not. Again thanks everybody.
