The Setup41.exe
I have crappy luck with weird viruses, it seems. A few days ago I apparently contracted something called 'setup41.exe'. Every time I start my computer, a red shield with an x on it appears at the bottom task bar, similar to the standard windows type thing, but it seems to be just the virus itself. It says my computer may have a virus, and when I click on it, it opens a page where a virus scanner tries to download itself. And then Avast! Alerts me as soon as it's done, which is a sign that the virus checking program it's trying to download is entirely fake. It must be, since Avast! Itself doesn't consider setup41.exe a virus, because I've scanned three times now, and it hasn't found anything. Oddly enough, nothing has happened to my computer. In fact... if I open up the task manager, and end setup41, as well as some other program that came with it (1mp, or tmp, or something, I can't remember), they go away, and don't come back until I restart my computer. I've tried restoring all the way back to July 1st, an entire month before I got this stupid virus. Help?
I've tried searching online for it, but there's hardly any information about it at all, except for one of those stupid "Hey, got a virus? Download this program to scan for it! We won't get rid of it, we'll just re-affirm that you do in fact have the virus." Most of those scanners seem to be viruses themselves.
To recap;
-- Name; 'setup41.exe'
-- System Restored an entire month backwards.
-- Virus scanned with Avast! Three times, never got a virus detected message or an error message.
