IRQL_Not_Less_or_Equal Error (Blue Screen) in Vista
I do not know what to do to fix it. When I start my computer, I get to the screen where I put in my password & then it shows my desktop and within 30 seconds it goes to a blue screen and shows the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error message. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Yep, use the STOP code, driver name, and parameters listed in the message to research for known issues at the device vendor's web site or Microsoft Support. Some possibilities are: driver version issue, faulty/incompatible hardware, or lack of a service pack if a new installation. These errors can consume hours or days of time determining and correcting the problem. If machine is under warranty, return it to place of purchase and let them spend the time.

One of the problems is that I cannot even make it to the Internet Explorer before it just entirely goes to the blue screen with that error message. The computer has Dell support implemented in the background but I cannot even get there without it going to the blue screen.

Well, yeah, another computer is usually needed for researching or downloading any software updates to fix these types of problems. They're generally an all around pain.

I ended up opening my computer in Safe Mode and then I did a restore to the last time my computer did an automatic restore which happened to be 3am yesterday morning. So I did the restore and it seems to have done the trick to get it to no longer have this message any longer. Hopefully when my computer does some updates that it does not occur again. Thank you for all of your help!

It might sound strange but I found that a lot of dust on the memory chips might cause this problem – try cleaning them. Another reason for this error is a problematic driver in your system (defective/old), you need to track down that driver and replace it with a new one (see more details in this thread: irql_not_less_or_equal) Hope that helps.
