    Computer acting up
I logged onto my computer and all of my icons except my recycle bin are gone. I cannot access any of my saved files. An error came up and brought up a system scan that could only fix 6 of the 14 problems including errors saying something like critical RAM temperature, memory, cluster damage, and system errors. I cannot afford to pay someone to fix my computer for me so can someone here tell me what to do?

You may have a virus that wiped everything out. The only thing you can do at this point would be do a complete reinstall if you have your original O/S discs and your driver discs. Do you know how to do this?

Hopefully you have an antivirus program installed and have an external hard drive to back up your documents on. I found out the hard way when my computer had a virus and I could not even get it to boot into the safe system mode (have you tried that yet?) and had to reformat the machine from zero.

What kind of computer do you have?

I have a Toshiba Satellite. I haven't of the discs for it. It won't even let me into the options to do a system restore. I think it is virus also. It allows me into the internet but not into anything on the hard drive. It even wiped out my safe mode and repair/dubugging modes. I have a free antivirus installed but it is not helping much. I have no documents on this computer as I have recently reset it to out of box state.

    Thank you for answering!
