    My computer
    Hello,

    I have a problem I hope someone can help me with, I can't find "my computer" or "control panel" on my computer, It's gone! I have no idea why. I have a compact presario, and I run xp on it. Can anyone help me please?

    Boot to your XP CD or the Recovery partiton and run the Repair option.

    Just to add to Scott's advice, try a system restore first as this maybe a simpler option.
    Start > All Programms > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore and follow the wizard.

    Maybe we should have asked, is "my computer" the folder gone (very unlikely since your are able to load windows), or the shortcut was just deleted?

    It is also quite possible you switched back to the XP start menu. If so right click on your taskbar -> click properties -> click the "start menu" tab -> click the "classic start menu" radio button -> click apply.
