I cant start Windows XP from MS-DOS
Hey everyone, what a day to get a problem on my PC, christmas!
Anyway this is my problem. My brother messed up his computer and wanted a MS-DOS CD because he thought somehow it would fix it. He asked me to download it from the internet on my computer and burn it on a CD. Am pretty sure I downloaded DOS6.22_bootdisk.iso I tried to burn it on a cd but I think I did something and maybe it installed itself on my PC. Now when I start my PC it says, starting MS-DOS and then I get something like this:
Driver Version: V340
Device Name: BANANA
Transfer Mode: Programmed I/O
Driver 0: Port= 1F0 (Primary Channel), Master 1RQ=14
Firmware version: JYS2
Drive 1: Port= 1F0 (Primary Channel), Slave 1RQ=14
Firmware version: 9YS2
MSCDEX version 2.23
Driver R: Driver BANANA unit 0
Driver S: Driver BANANA unit 1
A:\>
That's everything I get, I try to type in "c:" but it says Invalid drive specification.
I try to type in EXIT or WIN but it oly says Bad command or file name. Can you guys please help me, it would really be apreaciated.

When I press F8 it came up with this:
MS-DOS will prompt you to confirm each CONFIG.SYS command.
DEVICE= HIMEM.SYS /TESTMEM:OFF [Y.N]?
I had no idea what this was, so I pressed "y" and "n" randomly, then it said
FILES= 30 [Y.N]
BUFFERS= 20 [Y.N]
DEVICE= CD1.SYS /D:BANANA [Y.N]
thanks for the reply by the way

Problem fixed. While the computer was starting up, I pressed DEL to get me to the BIOS menu. Then I set it up so its boots from the Hard Disk, and it worked. This time when I restarted my computer it worked normaly. Thanks for the comment though Stratmando

I have another problem now. Something happened to my PC and before my PC goes to the login screen it keeps restarting. Am trying to repair windows xp, and it set it up so it boots from the CD-Rom, but it keeps starting on ms-dos. How do I get my PC to boot from the cd-rom without going to ms-dos first so I can repair windos? Any ideas please?

My computers were updated from windows 98 to windows 2000. The desk top computer runs great. My IBM lap top takes a long time to open. It seams to be searching for a file or something. I'm not very computer literate - any suggestions.
