I'm sorry to tell you, but diet pills are not the answer. (Your doctor didn't give you the names of "safe" ones? How did he tell you to lose weight?) You must change the way you eat and move your body, and can hope to lose about 7-10 pounds a month. If you lose more than that, you're playing with fire, plus, after the wedding, you will shoot back up to the weight you are now and higher.
Your doctor should first prescribe a diuretic which will help get rid of water weight. He or a nutritionist should put together a food plan for you (and you must stick to it). Then throw in daily exercise. At your local public library, find the Weight Watchers' books, for both diet and for exercise (in two difference places at the library). Their plan is a good one and will keep you healthy for the rest of your life.
