    Can I use a whitepaper as a reference for thesis?
    I am planning to use a whitepaper of a solutions company as a reference for my thesis.

    To actually answer your question, if the source is authoritative then you should be able to use it. A lot depends on the context and the theme of the thesis. I would double check with your instructor or academic advisor.

    Jeremy, the OP did not ask for citation rules in the question. ScottGem is correct. It's best to ask about the thesis rules prior to using this as a citation. If it isn't clear in the instructions, it's always best to ask. Asking strangers on the internet about something as important as your thesis isn't the way to handle this. Go directly to the source--your instructor.

    When in doubt about any assignment ask the instructor what they want simply because they will do the grading. Nobody else's opinion even matters. Even great papers fail when they don't meet the criteria of the instructor.
